Replacing the stem on these devices will be typically straight forward as long as you have the correct seat and springs to go along with the model. Older tubs and showers will have two knobs for hot and cold and sometimes a third to divert the shower head. Another issue that comes with your tub is the diverter. A diverter is used to shift water from the spout to the shower head.
