A sagging, broken, or crushed sewer line will all present with repeat sewer back ups. If you find yourself asking, "Why does my sewer line keep backing up?" read on.

Broken, Crushed or Belly in the Sewer Line

Belly or Dip in the Sewer Line

A broken, crushed or a belly in the sewer line will all present as repeat sewer back ups. It happens way too often. I snake out my line multiple times, but my sewer line keeps backing up. If your sewer line is giving you repeat problems, you have more going on. Even without an apparent blockage, you may have a dip in your sewer line. This is called a 'belly' in the line. Some have multiple 'dips'. This dip under the ground is also known as a "belly”. A belly in the line means your pipe curves in a downward motion and curves up drastically, thus trapping water in the bend. This in turn cause drainage problems for your home.

Crushed Sewer Line

Shifts in the foundation will cause cast iron & PVC pipes to bend with the movement of the concrete slab above it.  When the sewer line is crushed either in the yard line or under the house, trust only the expert plumbers to tunnel under the house and perform a sewer re-pipe. PVC is popular for it’s durability, but this material of plumbing is known to break, shift & cause bellies in the sewer line.  If you notice any of these tale-tell signs, contact the experts at Duncan Plumbing:
  • Sewer smell
  • Lush or green 'well fertilized' lawn
  • Repeat Sewer back ups
  • Gurgling toilets
  • Cracked foundation
  • Cracks in the walls

When your sewer line backs up, the plumber will snake or roto-rooter your line & find a blockage. An experienced plumber knows a crushed line or a broken line by 'feel'. There may be no blockage at all but looking down the clean out to see standing water.
A sewer camera will give a visual of the line’s interior. Once the plumber sees inside the sewer line, he uses a locator to trace your lines. He will then mark the location and the repairs can begin.
Trust the experts at Duncan Plumbing to diagnose and repai r sewer clogs, sewer line back ups & sewer repipes. Our expert technicians bring the experience needed to properly camera your lines and diagnose any sewer repair! Just give us a call at 972-937-004 0.
